Priorities for Mecklenburg County
As County Commissioner At-Large, Felicia will focus on practical, measurable improvements — using the County’s budget, partnerships, and oversight role to strengthen services and expand opportunity.
Priority 1 — Healthcare & Mental Health
Everyone deserves access to quality, affordable care — including mental health services. Felicia will:
- Prioritize budget decisions that expand access and reduce gaps in care.
- Support community-based mental health and crisis response options.
- Push for clear performance measures so programs show outcomes.
Priority 2 — Seniors & Affordability
Seniors should be able to stay in their homes with dignity. Felicia will:
- Champion smart affordability decisions and “aging-in-place” support.
- Bring a service-delivery lens to how seniors access benefits and resources.
- Advocate for tax and budget choices that reduce pressure on fixed incomes.
Priority 3 — Foster Youth & Family Stability
Foster youth deserve real pathways to adulthood and long-term success. Felicia will:
- Support programs that connect youth to housing stability, education, and jobs.
- Strengthen coordination across County services so youth don’t fall through cracks.
- Insist on outcomes reporting (not just good intentions).
Priority 4 — Education & Youth Support
Students succeed when they have the right support around them — including aligned youth and family services. Felicia will:
- Support staffing and wraparound student supports that drive attendance and success.
- Build stronger partnerships between schools, families, and County services.
- Advocate for resources where needs are greatest.
Priority 5 — Transit Access & Opportunity
Reliable transit supports economic opportunity and community connectivity. Felicia will:
- Push for realistic improvements that connect people to jobs and essential services.
- Support infrastructure and planning that makes transportation safer and more reliable.
Priority 6 — Public Safety & Community Trust
Safety requires collaboration and trust — not just slogans. Felicia will:
- Work with residents, community leaders, and partners on prevention and safety strategies.
- Focus on policies that improve outcomes and strengthen confidence in institutions.
